Understanding Inflammation & Why That's So Important !

Inflammation and Processed Foods: What You Need to Know & Really Should Know.

Now before I start writing this, I’m gathering my information from some very important pioneers in the new studies of naturopathic nutrition, Experts in their fields, too name but a few (the ones my brain has allowed me to remember) and the people making waves in the Allopathic/Naturopathic solutions for treating and curing unease in the body. DR Jenny Goodman & Dr Chris Van Tulleken. (My favourite people educating in this subject right now !!) read their books !! you won’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it at first, and the fact that most of what’s happening with our food is actually intentional, to drive profits, no matter the cost to health in us and our children. I’m blown away to discover we are only just learning that this is the case, and just starting to do something about it. So what I have written is a dulled down version that helped my brain understand what was going on. This version helps me understand just one of the things going on with everyone on this earth right now, and how it’s not being properly addressed by our trusted doctors and “peers”, Leaders, Time for a huge shake up !! No wonder we are suffering?!?! This is being ignored because of greed.

Inflammation might sound like a fancy medical term, but it’s something we’ve all experienced. Think about the last time you cut your finger or twisted your ankle, it got red, swollen, and sore, right? That’s your body’s way of healing itself. But what happens when inflammation sticks around for too long? That’s when it becomes a problem, and one of the biggest culprits behind this is the food we eat, especially processed foods.

What’s the Deal with Inflammation?

There are two types of inflammation:

Good Inflammation: This is your body’s short-term response to an injury or infection. It’s like your immune system’s emergency team rushing to fix the problem.

Bad Inflammation: This is long-term, low-level inflammation that doesn’t go away. It’s sneaky because you might not even notice it, but over time, it can cause serious damage to your body.

Why Processed Foods Are Trouble

Processed foods are everywhere—Processed carbs, sugary drinks, frozen meals, sweets, breads and sauces.

They’re convenient, but they’re also packed with stuff that can mess with your body.

Sugar: Too much sugar can make your body inflamed, like throwing fuel on a fire.

Bad Fats: Processed foods often contain unhealthy fats (like trans fats) that can trigger inflammation.

Additives Preservatives, artificial flavours, and other chemicals can irritate your gut and cause inflammation.

Low Fiber: Processed foods don’t have much fibre, which your gut needs to stay healthy. Without it, your gut can be stripped of all its good microbes and cause inflammation.

What Diseases Can Inflammation Cause?

When inflammation sticks around for too long, it can lead to some serious health problems. Here are a few examples:

Heart Disease: Inflammation can damage your blood vessels, leading to heart attacks or strokes.

Diabetes: It can mess with your body’s ability to handle sugar, leading to type 2 diabetes.

Obesity: Inflammation and weight gain often go hand in hand, creating a vicious cycle.

Joint Problems: Conditions like arthritis are fuelled by inflammation.

Brain Issues: Inflammation has been linked to memory problems and diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Cancer: Long-term inflammation can damage your cells and increase the risk of cancer.

Gut Problems: Inflammation can cause issues like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or Crohn’s disease.

Mental Health Issues: Believe it or not, inflammation can even affect your mood, contributing to depression and anxiety.

So…. Pretty much all of them right, I’ll say it again, Inflammation... caused by what you put in your mouth is causing these diseases ^^^ all of them!!! So it doesn’t make sense that the powers that be are letting this happen right, the pressure on our national health service, and the failing allopathic approach is palpable now. What is the incentive to keep it the way it is? Where’s the drive for change and protection of our human rights?

How to Fight Inflammation with Food

And the Extra important caveat here is that you swap everything out for Organic, Organic foods are grown in soil that is pesticide free, fungicide free, herbicide free, the list goes on, I cannot express the importance of ORGANIC being the power word in good nutritious food, don’t given get me started on the glyphosate being up taken by crops in farmed foods.

The good news? You can take control of inflammation by making smarter food choices. Here’s how:

Ditch Processed Foods: Cut back on carb rich foods, sugary drinks*, frozen meals, and anything with a long list of ingredients you can’t pronounce.

Eat More Organic Whole Foods: Focus on real, unprocessed foods like fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins.

Add Anti-Inflammatory Foods: Some foods are like natural firefighters for inflammation. Try adding:

ORGANIC

   Omega 3,6 & 9 Oils

Leafy greens (like spinach or kale)

   Berries (like blueberries or strawberries)

Nuts and seeds (like walnuts or flaxseeds)

   Cold Pressed Olive oil

Drink Water: Preferably filtered, not purified. Staying hydrated helps your body flush out toxins and stay balanced.

Manage Stress: Stress can make inflammation worse, so find ways to relax—whether it’s yoga, walking, or just taking a few deep breaths.

The Bottom Line

Whatever you put in your mouth, either heals you or harms you, its your choice.

Chronic inflammation is a big deal, and processed foods are a major cause. But the power to fix it is in your hands, or rather, on your plate. By cutting back on processed foods and eating more Organic whole, healthy foods, you can reduce inflammation, feel better, and lower your risk of serious diseases.

Start small. Swap out one processed snack for a piece of Organic fruit or a handful of nuts, cut out 50% of your sugar intake. Your body will thank you!

What I also want to add is…. This isn’t easy, these foods have been designed by specialists, scientists and psychologists to “Make you addicted to them, so that you want more”.

So simple, but so true. But I believe once you make the commitment, you will feel the difference and its quite often described as... “I didn’t know I could actually feel this good, because I never have”.

Trust me, I am living testament to it. Once you start doing this your gut microbiome will start repairing from the years of inflammation caused by the harmful chemicals and refined sugar we’ve all been ingesting. You will then start to gain more nutrition from your food because your stomach is working properly and then in turn inflammation will reduce, promise.

Lots of love Adam.

  • The side note on sugar filled drinks - to make these drinks more addictive, companies add more sugar to their drinks, and that what makes them addictive. The sugar releases dopamine which is a pleasure response and guess what, we like that feeling so the more sugar they add the more you'll want to go back for more. But have you ever had a cup of tea with more than three sugars in it? It's sickly right? So what they do is add sour, then carbonate and also add flavour and voiala ! A tasty drink, some of these cans of pop have more han 35 teaspoons of sugar in a single can WTF !! And, they know what it does to your insides too ! Bizzare, theyre getting away with it. Rant over, Kind of.
