Service Description

This treatment is ideal for anyone that is using their body in any physical way day to day. With repetition of movements our muscles shorten and can often create a restricted range of movements surrounding the joints. This leads to tightness, fatigue, pain and even chronic pain. When we damage our muscles or place to much strain on them, we can also create trigger points within our muscle tissue, without the proper techniques to release these painful trigger points they will keep a section of the muscle in contraction, this leads to referred pain and often injury as the muscle is not performing to its highest ability. To begin with we would go through something called a soap assessment in which I would analyse your body from head to toe for visual impairments in the joints and spine, this would give an idea of where we need to start work. We would then discuss your goals and what or where you would like to be physically upon the completion of your treatment.   I would then utilise the methods stated below and assess the range of movement in the joints associated with the pain you are experiencing and treat the areas with massage, trigger point release and MET'S. We would then talk about exercises and stretches that you would do at home to strengthen and lengthen the muscles giving you the trouble. Throughout a pain relief massage I will be using every method available to create the normal range of movements in all the joints. MET Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a technique that was developed in 1948 by Fred Mitchell, Sr, D.O. It is a form of manual therapy, widely used in Osteopathy, that uses a muscle's own energy in the form of gentle isometric contractions to relax the muscles via autogenic or reciprocal inhibition and lengthen the muscle. Trigger point release  Ischemic compression is a mechanical treatment of myofascial trigger points that consists of application of sustained pressure for a long enough time to inactivate the trigger points.  This in turn allows the muscle to relax, heal and function normally. Effleurage. This is a soothing, stroking movement used at the beginning and the end of the facial and/or body massage. Effleurage is basically a form of massage involving a circular stroking movement made with the palm of the hand. Effleurage can be firm or light without dragging the skin, and is performed using either the padded parts of the finger tips or the palms of the hands.
